Carol Hass
President & CEO
Carol is an accomplished professional with deep experience in resource development, facilitation, capacity building, and collaborative work. She founded Community Works Consulting (CWC) in 2005 to better serve mission-driven organizations working to change our world. With more than 30 years working and volunteering with community-based nonprofits and philanthropic entities, she’s served as staff, board member, and advisory board member across a range of organizations. Throughout her career, Carol has built a reputation for creating inclusive environments where staff and volunteers thrive and do great work.
As President & CEO, Carol leads a team of staff and affiliate consultants who provide tailored facilitation for complex planning and collaborative convening, secure millions in grant funding annually, help grant makers and philanthropists make strategic shifts, and build capacity across the nonprofit sector. Alongside leading the CWC team, she provides direct client services in facilitation, strategy support, capacity building, assessments, and collaborative convening.
Carol currently serves on the board of Confluence Rising (formerly the California Conference for Equality and Justice), a nonprofit focused on social justice and equity. She was recently honored with a place on the Long Beach Harvey Milk Equality Plaza Memorial Wall for her work and advocacy for LGBTQ communities. Carol and her wife Cris live in Long Beach. When she’s not working, she enjoys baking, gardening, time in the coastal redwoods, and doting on her nieces.
